ALICE, Texas - Luis B. Charles, 82, passed away June 5, 2007 at his residence in Alice, Texas. He was born in George West, Texas, on May 13, 1925 to Dario and Carmen B. Charles. He was a custodian for many years for the Alice Independent School District. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jesusa Charles; and a granddaughter, Cindy Ann Garza.

Survivors include his four sons, Luis G. (Esmeralda) Charles Jr. and Leobardo G. Charles, both of Alice, Texas, Leonardo G. (Marta) Charles of Needsville, Texas, and Victor G. Charles of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Mary Hilda C. Elizondo and Elida C. Perez, both of Rosenburg, Texas; two brothers, Longino B. Charles of Agua Dulce, Texas, and Francisco B. Charles of Alice; 14 grandchildren, 32 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice, Texas. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 at the San Diego Cemetery.

Henneke

ALICE, Texas - Joyce Porter Henneke passed away on June 5, 2007 in Alice at the age of 80. She was born to Milby and Frances Porter on May 15, 1927 in Mathis.

Joyce and Herbert Henneke were married on December 30, 1947 and started their family in Orange Grove. The family moved to Agua Dulce in 1959 and Joyce taught school at Agua Dulce Elementary School for 25 years.

Joyce and Herbert retired in 1986 and moved to Padre Island in 1990, making many wonderful friends there before moving to Alice in 2001. Joyce was preceded in death by Herbert, her loving husband of 57 years. Joyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by a sister, Charlotte and Rudy Reem of Clear Lake and three sons, Paul and Cherrie Henneke of San Antonio, David and Beverly Henneke of Alice and Gleen and Lin Henneke of Three Rivers.

Joyce was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Jason and Debbie Henneke of San Antonio, Alex and Mary Henneke of Dallas, Christie and Danny Belcher of San Antonio, Carrie and Garrick Mabrito of Gillett, Marcus and Deana Henneke of Katy, Suzanne and Grant Scott of Katy, and Casandra and Steve Longo of Dripping Springs. Joyce was a proud great-grandmother of 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Elva "Lilly" Chapa Ingram, 37, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at her residence following a sudden illness.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Ingram of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Taylor Vernon Ingram and Nicholas Manuel Ingram, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; five brothers: Rudy (Hilda) Chapa and Yogi (Tina) Chapa Jr., both of Alice, Texas, Ricky Arredondo of Ionia, Mich., Fabian (Denise) Arredondo of Alice, Texas, and Rene (Geri) Arredondo of Killeen, Texas; six sisters, Imelda (Genero) Chavera and Lina Chapa, both of Alice, Texas, Anna (Rogelio) Davila of Ionia, Mich., Nora Carrillo of Alvin, Texas, Rosa (Isidro) Garza of Alice, Texas, and Vivian (Hector) Saenz of Laredo, Texas; mother, Antonia (Salome) Rangel of Alice, Texas; father, Manuel (Petra) Chapa of Alice, Texas; four grandmothers, Maxima Zapata of Alice, Texas, Felipa Almaraz of Topeka, Kan., Irene Chapa of Orange Grove, Texas, and Petra Gallegos of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother-in-law, Tim Ingram of Jacksonville, Fla.; aunt, Arlene Kincaid of Jacksonville, Fla.; and father-in-law, Paul Fitzroy of Jacksonville, Texas.

Visitation will begin Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 8, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Roberson-Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Manuel A. Rodriguez Jr., 38, passed away June 4, 2007 at his residence in San Diego, Texas.

Survivors include his father, Manuel A. Rodriguez Sr. of San Diego, Texas; his mother, Marta Trigo of Austin, Texas; paternal grandmother, Manuela Rodriguez of San Diego, Texas; three brothers, Esiquiel Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas, Ruben Rodriguez and David Rodriguez, both of San Diego, Texas; seven sisters, Raquel Rodriguez of Port Lavaca, Texas, Enedina Rodriguez and Idalia Rodriguez, both of Tulsa, Okla., Leticia Rodriguez of Del Valle, Texas, Mary Lou Trigo of Austin, Texas, Rosalinda Rodriguez of Marlin, Texas, and Hermelinda Rodriguez of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends will gather from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 8, 2007 with a memorial service conducted at 11 a.m. that morning.
