FALFURRIAS, Texas - Faye Clegg, 87, passed away Thursday November 29, 2007 in Alice, Texas. Faye was born on February 10, 1920 to Benino Cantu and Higinia Mireles Cantu in Falfurrias, Texas. Faye was a self-taught business woman who along with her husband owned and operated Falfurrias Construction Company and later worked for Falfurrias Creamery and Brite Star Laundry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wm. Joseph "Joe" Clegg; two sons, Wm. Joseph Clegg II and Johnny Clegg; and a daughter, Judy Faye Escalante.
Survivors include her daughters, Pearlie Jo (Adan) Valadez of Alice and Jo Ann (Roel) Vela of Falfurrias, a son Benny Ray (Rosario) Clegg of Premont, a sister, Josephine Guerra of Fort Worth, and numerous dearly loved grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She embellished in her children to treat everyone the same, that they could be and do anything they set their mind to, and to never give up fighting for what was right. Her determination to succeed was an inspiration and will be forever remembered.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday November 30, 2007 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday December 1, 2007 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.

ALICE, Texas - Guadalupe Garza Jenks, 84, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 in a Temple, Texas, hospital after an illness.
A lifelong resident of Alice, Texas, she was a homemaker.
Surivivors include three sisters, Maria Antonia Garza of Belton, Texas, Otila Garza of Lockhart, Texas, and Pilar Salinas of Alice, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice with burial following at New Collins Cemetery in Alice.

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Minerva G. Perez, 91, a longtime resident of San Diego, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007 in San Diego after a short illness. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially pan de polvo, and entertaining her family and friends with her baked goods and coffee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eusebio Perez; a daughter Raquel (Roy) Smithwick; three brothers, Victor Jr., Noe and Hector Gonzalez; and one sister, Consuelo (Adan) Valadez.
Survivors include her son, Roel (Velma) Perez of Premont, Texas; a sister, Aminta Garza of San Diego, Texas; her brothers, Eladio (Berta) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas, and Humberto Gonzalez of Rios, Texas; her grandchildren, great-grandson, three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery.

ALICE, Texas - Ernesto G. Salinas Jr., 66, passed away November 28, 2007 at his residence. He was a U. S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam era and was presently a substitute teacher with the Alice Independent School District.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto S. Salinas Sr. and Petra G. Salinas; and by one sister, Esmeralda Robert.
Survivors include four sons, Leonardo Basaldua and Johnny Garza, both of Alice, Texas, Jimmy Garza of Austin, Texas, and Pedro Basaldua of Alice; six brothers, Rodolfo (Aura) Salinas of San Antonio, Texas, Raul G. (Berta) Salinas, Armando G. (Eloisa) Salinas and Roque G. (Nellie) Salinas, all of Alice, Ruben G. (Rosa) Salinas of Tyler, Texas, and Homer G. Salinas of Alice; six sisters, Janie S. Thorpe of Corpus Christi, Texas, Lee Amador of Alice, Texas, Connie (Israel) Luera of Corpus Christi, Irma (Exiquio) Abrigo, Linda (Rene) Munoz and Diana (Teodoro) Romero, all of Alice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice. Funeral services will follow with a gravesite service at the Old Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.
