FALFURRIAS, Texas - Jamie Christopher Cantu, 18 passed away on May 31, 2007 in Kingsville, Texas, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a 2007 graduate of Falfurrias High School and also attended the Premont Independent School District. He loved people, living fast, and playing Madden 2007 against all challengers.
Survivors include his parents, Samuel and Delicia Cantu of Premont, Texas; two brothers, Emmanuel (Nidra) Sanchez of Kingsville, Texas, and Samuel Cantu Jr. of Falfurrias, Texas; one sister: Yesenia (Marco) Longoria of Falfurrias, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Maria (Jimmy) Sneed of Premont, Texas; his girlfriend, one nephew and one niece.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007, at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church in Premont, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 also at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church in Premont. Burial will be in the Premont Cemetery in Premont, Texas.

ALICE, Texas - Margie L. Hendricks, 85, passed away June 3, 2006 at her home in Alice. She was born May 10, 1922 in Merkel, Texas, to Finus and Anna Hogan. Mrs. Hendricks was a member of the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice. She was formerly a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Alice P & S Hospital and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Plainview hospital. Also she was a member of the Alice China Club. Mrs. Hendricks married John Bell "Bud" Hendricks on July 14, 1940, Mr. Hendricks preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anne Hendricks.
Survivors include her sons, Joe Wayne "Buddy" (Barbara) Hendricks of Floydada and Finus (Donna) Hendricks of Alice; one sister, Nan Campbell of Merkel, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

ALICE, Texas - Jose "Joe" Luis Lopez, 44, passed away June 3, 2007 in an Alice hospital after a long illness. He was a graduate of Alice High School, Class of 1980, was an oilfield worker, an avid softball player and a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. He also enjoyed barbecueing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aparicio C. and Rebecca Araujo Lopez.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, of Alice, Texas; one stepson, Michael Flores of Seguin, Texas; one daughter, Ashley Jo Lopez of Alice; one brother, Pat (Sylvia) Lopez Jr. of Alice; two sisters, Linda (Jimmy Jr.) Rios and Melva (J.B. Garcia), both of Alice; three step-grandchildren, Marina Flores, Marisa Flores, Dylan Flores and several nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Burial will follow at Old Collins Cemetery.

ALICE, Texas - Samuel "Chame" N. Paez, 75, passed away June 3, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a short illness. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Dugger Drilling prior to his disability. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Pedro and Guadalupe Nieto Paez; four sisters, Leocadia Sanchez, Natividad Davila, Pilar Romo and Olivia Mejia; and by three brothers, Wenseslao, Pablo and Francisco Paez.
Survivors include his wife, Filomena B. Paez of Alice, Texas; two sons, Samuel (Brenda) Paez Jr. of Alice and David (Sylvia) Paez of Laredo, Texas; one daughter, Sandra (Andrew) LeBoeuf of Mission, Texas; three brothers, Pedro Paez of Alice, Daniel Paez of Willard, Ohio, and Jose (Elisa) Paiz of Alice; five sisters, Andrea Garcia of Alice, Minerva Mata and Bernabe Trevino, both of Houston, Texas, Rebecca Carens of Denton, Texas, and Ludim Quesada of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Paez, Samantha Paez, Yvonne Paez, Samuel Paez III, David Paez Jr., Aaron Joseph Abrigo and Amber Riley LeBoeuf; two great- grandchildren, Steven A. Paez and Hugo Andres Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice. A Rosary will be recited that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial following at the Alice Cemetery with graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice, Texas.
