FREER - San Juanita Perez Casas, 87, a resident of Freer, Texas, died on Thursday, August 9, 2007 in a Laredo Hospital.

She retired from Freer I.S.D. after 27 years of service in the Food Service Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Casas.

Survivors include her son, Ruben (Irene) Casas of Freer, Texas; two daughters, Clementina (Ruben) Pulido and Carolina Casas, both of Freer, Texas; her five grandchildren Ruben Randy Casas, Mia Pulido, Mira Pulido, John Daniel Smith and Mark Allen Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vistiation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas, with Rosary recited that evening. Communion service was held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas. Burial followed at La Pila Blanca Cemetery.

FREER, Texas - Maria DeJesus Garza, 87, passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at a Corpus Christi hospital. She was born on June 5, 1920 in Conroe, Texas, to Jacobo and Adela Gonzalez. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Juan F. Garza; two daughters, Maria Guadalupe Garza and Adelina G. Vasquez; one son, Jose Guadalupe Garza; her parents, one brother, one sister and six grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Benjamin (the late Elda) Garza and Homero (Thelma) Garza, both of Freer, Texas, Serapio (Esther) Garza of Giddings, Texas, and Juan F. (Jesusa) Garza Jr. of Sinton, Texas; her daughters, Hortencia (Pablo) Vela and Francisca (Lazaro) Garcia both of Sebastian, Texas, Mirta "Mickey" Garcia of Kingsville, Texas, Noelia (the late Eleodoro) Cantu and Alma Rios both of Freer, Texas, and Maricela (John C.) Bell of Luling, Texas; two brothers, Jose (Nena) Gonzalez and Jose Guadalupe (Adelfa) Gonzalez, both of San Antonio, Texas; 62 grandchildren, 120 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas. Prayer service was held at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home Chapel in Freer with Pastor Jessie Garcia officiating.

Burial followed at Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
