Lozano, Sanchez, Yates
ALICE, Texas - Alonzo "Lonnie" Lozano, 49, of Alice, Texas, went to rest with the Angels and joined his parents, Eleazar and Genoveva "Penny" Gomez Lozano on Sunday, July 1, 2007.
He was a 1976 Alice High School graduate and headed to A&I University in Kingsville, Texas.
He was employed by Jim Wells County as Constable of Pct. #6, a profession he truly enjoyed.
He was an avid hunter, gun collector and enjoyed making leather crafts. Alonzo leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship of all who knew him. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleazar and Genoveva "Penny" Gomez Lozano.
Survivors include his sister, Judi (Gloria) Lozano; his best friend and caregiver, Albert Perez; two nieces, Stephanie M. (Jonathan) Saenz and Marlysa I. Lozano and one nephew, Joseph D. (Monica) Saenz, all of Alice; three stepchildren, Jacob, Jason and Kelly Beard; several step-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2007 also at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at Premont Cemetery in Premont, Texas.

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Jose Omar "Chato" Sanchez, 45, a lifelong resident of San Diego, Texas, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in an Alice nursing home after a long illness.
He worked as a ranch hand for Alberto Garcia for more than 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Maria Sanchez, and a niece.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie Garcia of San Diego, Texas; one son, Jose Rene Sanchez of San Diego, Texas; his mother, Juanita R. Sanchez of San Diego, Texas; four sisters, Maria de la Luz (Felix Arredondo) Gaitan of Alice, Texas, Rosa (Jesus) Becerra of Cahune, Ga., Elsa (Samuel Rodriguez) Sanchez of San Diego, Texas, and Alma (Jose Hernandez) Arredondo of Alice, Texas; four brothers, Benny Sanchez of Alice, Texas, Homero Sanchez, Luis Elias (Maria) Sanchez and David Noe Sanchez all of San Diego, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Janie Louise Fiske Yates, 75, passed away July 3, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was born August 31, 1931 in Clay County, Tenn., to William Denton and Ermine Hooten Fiske. She was a retired Interior Decorator.
Survivors include her daughter, Sara Yates Kuris of Corpus Christi; her son, John (Jessica) Yates of Alice; three grandchildren, Melis Kuris, Eren Kuris, and Noah Yates; one nephew, William M. Speck of Livingston, Tenn.; and two nieces, Joy Demurbrum of Nashville, Tenn., and Alva Dean Everette of Bristol, Va.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2007 from 4 to 9 p.m., and Friday, July 6, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice.
Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park will be at a later date due to weather conditions.
