PREMONT, Texas - Arlie W. Estes, 90, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 at an El Campo nursing home. He was born Sept. 21, 1916, to Virgil and Cassie Sharp Estes in Yellsville, Ark., and was raised by his stepfather, Oscar Kelly. He worked many years in the oilfield, and finally retired from Mills Bennett and Associates.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Estes of Premont, Texas; two sons, Arlie W. (Betty) Estes Jr. of Port Neches, Texas, and Jim R. Estes of Antioch, Calif.; a daughter, Lola A. (Nick) Beaver of El Campo, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday May 29, 2007 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams.

Funeral services was be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 30, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Premont with interment following at the Premont Cemetery.

Hernandez

PREMONT, Texas - Matilde Hernandez, 72, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, after a very long illness. She was born on March 14, 1935, to Antonio Quintanilla and Anita De Los Santos Quintanilla in Premont. She was a lifelong member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. She was a retired partner of Rita's Drive-In and she loved to go on casino trips to Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parent and two grandsons.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ruben A. Hernandez of Premont; a son, Jose Antonio (Melba) Hernandez of Falfurrias; two daughters, Dora Anita (Buck) Shedd of Woodsboro, Texas, and Sylvia (Robert) Richards of Del Rio, Texas; five sisters, Lupe (Cleofas) Hinojosa and Pancha (Leo) Herrera, both of Premont, Lydia Neely of Orange Grove, Texas, Anna Maria Mata and Rita (Vidal) Garcia, both of Premont; two brothers, Antonio Rene Quintanilla and Enrique (Dora) Quintanilla, both of Premont; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 29, 2007 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Premont. Interment followed at the Premont Cemetery.

Perez

PREMONT, Texas - Joel Bilsen Perez, 78, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007 at a Corpus Christi hospital. He was born April 28, 1929 to Ignacio and Eloisa Perez in the town of Ben Bolt, Texas. He worked in maintenance with the State of Kansas and owned his own janitorial buisness before his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita G. Perez of Premont, Texas; a son, Jose Bilsen (Nancy) Perez Jr. of Paola, Kan.; two daughters, Dilvia Nordlund of Yelm, Wash., and Sally (Mario) Garibay of Stilwell, Kan.; a stepson, George Perez of Premont, Texas; two stepdaughters, Maricela (Zaragosa)Vera of Dallas and Julie Teresa Soliz of McAllen, Texas; two brothers, Domingo Perez of Phoenix, Ariz., and Arnoldo Perez of Victoria, Texas; a sister, Socorro "Coco" Valdepena of New Braunfels, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at the St. Theresa's Catholic Church of Premont. Interment followed at the Premont Cemetery.
