SAN DIEGO, Texas - Carmen Vasquez Barrera, 87, passed away July 23, 2007 Alice hospital. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Barrera on April 18, 1995; her parents, Marcos Sr. and Preciliana R. Vasquez; her stepmother, Barbarita Vasquez; daughter, Tomasita G. Vasquez; and sister, Lupita Ibanez.

Survivors include her three brothers, Marcos (Rosalinda) Vasquez of Alice, Texas, Nick (Juanita) Vasquez of Mathis, Texas, and Juan (Janice) Vasquez of Fortuna, Calif.; two sisters, Felicita Vasquez of San Diego, Texas, and Marina (Rudy) Garcia of Alice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of San Diego. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church with burial following at the San Diego Cemetery.

FALFURRIAS, Texas - Hilda Carrasco, 63, passed away July 23, 2007 at a Corpus Christi hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Rolando Carrasco Sr. of Falfurrias, Texas; one son, Rolando (Melissa) Carrasco Jr. of Falfurrias, Texas; one daughter, Belinda (Adrian) Reyes of Falfurrias, Texas; three brothers, Jesus Maria (Elva) Cantu and Gasper (Delfina) Cantu, both of San Antonio, Texas, and Melchor (Mercedes) Cantu of Kermon, Calif.; one sister, Irma Vargas of Falfurrias, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will be in the Falfurrias Burial Park, Falfurrias, Texas.

ALICE, Texas - Lydia "Lile" Martinez, 85, of Alice, Texas, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Martinez was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Crusillistas, Las Guadalupanas, Rosary Society for Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Joseph Catholic Church, life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was also a member of the Alice schools' PTA and Band Booster Club.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Manuela Lopez, Esperanza Sanchez Lopez, Belia Trevino and Beatrice Navejar; a brother, Salvador Perez; a grandson, Shawn William Bruce; and a son-in-law, Edward Cantu.

Survivors include her husband, Amando G. Martinez of Alice, Texas; her children, Amando P. Martinez Jr. of Alice, Herlinda M. Cantu of San Antonio, Texas, Roberto P. (Glenda) Martinez of San Antonio, Texas, Juan Antonio Martinez of Alice, Texas, and Jose Jaime (Leoma) Martinez of Kingsville, Texas; two sisters, Gregoria "Goyita" P. Vargas of Alice, Texas, Gloria (Gary) Traversie of Lake Worth, Texas; one brother, Tedoro "Lolo" (Sylvia) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Ruben M. Garcia and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall Building Fund, 1010 Beam Station Road, Alice, Texas, 78332.
