SAN DIEGO, Texas - Arnoldo Barrera, 93, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 19, 2007, his 67th wedding anniversary to his wife, Lalita Reyes. He was a devout Catholic and member of the Mutualistas. He was dedicated to family, friends and work. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1934. His primary work of 27 years was selling insurance for the American National Insurance Company. As an avid golfer, walker and sport enthusiast, his life was active and a celebration of the human spirit. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Barrera; mother, Urbana; five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Lalita; his sons, Arnoldo Jr. (Maria Elia), Ricardo (Patricia), Luis (Lucille), and Israel (Lili); his daughters, Graciela Kavulla (Timothy) and Lupita Barrera (Bob Parvin), his brother, Jose Oscar Barrera; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church. Burial followed at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.

ALICE, Texas - April Michelle Hernandez, 28, of Alice, Texas, passed away Friday, October 19, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jose Audon Saenz; paternal grandmother, Petra Hernandez; and paternal grandparents, Adan and Carmen Garcia.

Survivors include her parents, Javier and Maricela Garcia of Alice, Texas; three brothers, Valdemar A. Hernandez of Kingsville, Texas, Javier Garcia and Joshua Garcia, both of Alice, Texas; two sisters, Amara Garcia and Desma Garcia of Alice, Texas; her maternal grandmother, Olivia C. Saenz of Realitos, Texas; one nephew, Jeremy Hernandez of Alice, Texas; and her boyfriend, Ricardo Sanchez of Sinton, Texas. She is also survived by three maternal uncles, Jose Audon (Beatrice) Saenz of Waco, Texas, Rolando Saenz of Waco, Texas and Neri Saenz of Realitos, Texas; two maternal aunts, Vilma S. Cervantes of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Amada S. (Jim) McDermott of McAllen, Texas; one paternal uncle, Adan (Sylvia) Garcia of Alice, Texas; three paternal aunts, Nelda (Angel) Gonzalez of Kingsville, Texas, Lupita (Bob) Baker of Buda, Texas and Adriana Munoz of Kingsville, Texas; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2007 with a prayer service to be celebrated at 7 p.m. that evening at Chapel A, Ruben M. Garcia and Sons Funeral Services, Inc. 120 E. Front Street. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Edwin Cann officiating. Burial will follow at Realitos Cemetery in Realitos, Texas.
