ORANGE GROVE, Texas - Jose R. Bernal, 66, died Monday, September 23, 2007 in an Alice hospital after an illness. Born in Alice, Texas, he was a resident of Orange Grove, Texas. He was employed as a security guard. He joined the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served for 18 years, his duty stations included Guatanamo Bay, Vietnam and the U.S.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas A. and Guadalupe Ramirez Bernal; a son, Jeffrey Bernal; a daughter, Anita Jo Bernal; a brother, Aurelio Bernal Jr; and two sisters, Janie B. Gelista and Belle McKelvey.

Survivors include his wife, Idolina Bernal of Orange Grove, Texas; two daughters, Bonnie (Carlos) Salazar and Anita (Bobby) Perez, both of Beeville, Texas; three sons, Jose R. (Agnes) Bernal Jr. of Beeville, Texas, Robert (Sylvia) Bernal of San Antonio, Texas and Ronnie (Lee Ann) Bernal of Cape Coral, Fla.; a stepson, Martin DeAnda of Corpus Christi, Texas; five sisters, Delma Gutierrez, Belida Mitchell, Dolores Alfaro and Gena Bernal, all of Alice, Texas, and Tina (Martin) Valdez of San Diego, Texas; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice with military burial conducted by The United Veterans Burial Association of Alice at Old Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.

Cloud

SANDIA, Texas - Richard Lynn Cloud, 52, passed away September 20, 2007 at his home. He was born September 13, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Robert and Phyllis Mills Cloud. He was an ice manufacturing consultant.

Before his illness he lived in Costa Rica. He also worked in Nigeria and Africa, teaching the natives of these countries the ice manufacturing trade.

Survivors include his father, Robert Cloud of Sandia; one sister, Linda (Dwight) Mercer of Sandia; one brother, David Glenn Cloud of New Braunfels; three nieces, three nephews; two great-nieces and four great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2007 at the St Francis of Assisi Mission, located at 303 FM 534.

Deleon

ORANGE GROVE, Texas - Andres Deleon Sr., 71, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a long illness. Born in Hobson, Texas, he was a resident of Orange Grove, Texas, for the last 21 years and a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Viola Deleon and his son, Oscar Deleon.

Survivors include his wife, Macaria Deleon of Orange Grove; two brothers, Guadalupe Deleon of Orange Grove, and Pedro Deleon of Earth, Texas; one sister, Andrea Deleon of Three Rivers, Texas; five sons, Andy (Candy) Deleon of Sinton, Texas, Jose (Martha) Deleon of Skidmore, Texas, Marcos (Flora) Deleon of George West, Texas, Juan (Diana) Deleon of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Abel (Tina) Deleon of Orange Grove, Texas; four daughters, Eloisa (Canuto) Ortiz of Orange Grove, Lupe (Donald) Deleon of Sandia, Texas, Rose (Jimmy) Jerrell of Corpus Christi, and Senaida (Rene) Deleon of Orange Grove; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2007 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas, with burial following at Orange Grove Cemetery.

Ivy

BEEVILLE - ORANGE GROVE - Audrey Kelso Ivy, 82, died on September 28, 2007 in a San Diego nursing home.

She was born on December 13, 1924 in Gillete, Texas to Milton Thomas and Lottie Self Kelso, Audrey was a retired nurse with forty-five years of nursing.

Survivors include her daughter, Patti Paine of Beeville; her son James Ledbetter of Corpus Christi; one sister, Loretha Tschoepe of Alice; one brother, Tommy Kelso of Premont; four grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 30, 2007 from 1 to 9 p.m. with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. The funeral service was conducted on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at the Orange Grove Cemetery.
