Victor Saenz Gonzalez Jr., 75, passed away August 16, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born August 15, 1942 in Santa Cruz, Texas to Victor Martinez Gonzalez Sr. and Maria Saenz Gonzalez. He served in the US Army Reserve for 6 years. Victor retired on July 31, 2017 from the Alice Independent School District after working as a warehouseman in the central supply for 30 years. He had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, horses and fixing things, but will forever be remembered for his “farm boy” character and his love for family.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Martinez Gonzalez Sr. and Maria Saenz Gonzalez; siblings, Maria Dolores Valadez, Rebecca Saenz, Amando Gonzalez, Teresa Perez and David Gonzalez.
Victor is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosalinda “Rosie” Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; daughters, Pamela (Antonio Nefi Jr.) Olivares of McAllen, Texas and RosaAnna Gonzalez (Eddy Hinojosa) of Austin, Texas; sisters, Delia De La Cruz of Corpus Christi, Texas, Lamar Cirlos of Corpus Christi, Texas and Elva White (David Rodriguez) of San Antonio, Texas; one grandson, Antonio Nefi Olivares III and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Roberson Collins Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association.
Serving as pallbearers will be Antonio Nefi Olivares Jr., Antonio Nefi Olivares III, Daniel “Danny” Galvan, Cesar Gonzalez, Antonino Gonzalez, and Filiberto Gonzalez.
