Raul E. Ochoa Sr., age 81, passed away June 15, 2017. He was born September 28, 1935 in Bishop, Texas to Ignacio Garcia Ochoa and Lucia Escobar Ochoa. Raul was raised in Alice, Texas. He spent three years serving his country in Germany and Spain as a tank driver. Raul was a lifetime oilfield worker.
Some of his hobbies included watching sports, boating, and fishing. He enjoyed watching boxing and was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan and San Diego Vaqueros football fan. He will forever be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of animals, barbecuing and fish frying at the ranch, and especially his love and devotion to his parents, children, grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Lucia Ochoa; brother, Uvaldo Ochoa; and mother of his children, Minnie Ochoa.
He is survived by his wife Maria Elena Ochoa of Alice; three sons, Raul Ochoa Jr., Cesar Ochoa and Ismael “Bo” Ochoa (Marissa) all of Alice; one daughter, Luzdivina “Ludy” Ochoa Almaraz of Alice; step-son, Danny Flores (Julie); 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Collins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lauro Isaiah Almaraz, Raul Ochoa III, Celeste Ochoa, Kaylyn Ochoa, Lucas Elijah Almaraz, Giancarlo Ochoa. Honorary Pallbearer will be Noah Almaraz.
