Alvaro G. Briseno, age 81, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 15, 2017. He was born in Ben Bolt, Texas on December 1, 1935 to Agustin and Herminia Garcia Briseno.

Alvaro was a devoted husband and father. He served in the Texas National Guard and was a retiree of Reynolds Aluminum plant. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. He loved his birds.

Alvaro was preceded in death by his parents, Agustin and Herminia Briseno.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving wife of 58 years, Ernestina T. Briseno of Alice and his son, Alvaro Briseno, Jr. and his wife Leticia of San Antonio; two brothers, Salvador Briseno of Alice and Agustin (Alicia) Briseno of Alvin; four sisters, Maria E. Tamez of Corpus Christi, Dora E. Barrera of Ben Bolt, Hercilia “Kit” (Ernesto) Soliz of Alice, and Maria Tina Ramos of Alice; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice with Father Fernando officiating. 

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
