REALITOS - Mauricio "Wicho" Silvas, 70 years of age, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at his residence after a short illness. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. "Wicho" was known for being a cowboy, a rancher and also raised cattle. He loved to hunt and fish. Wicho was a beloved and devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pablo Silvas Sr., and Manuela P. Silvas, three brothers Benito Silvas, Amador Silvas and Roberto Silvas, two sisters Lesvia Garcia and Edna Garcia.
Survived by his two daughters Ashley (Jonathan) Baca, Tuscon, Arizona and Brittany Silvas, Alburquerque, New Mexico, three brothers Reymundo Silvas, Benavides, Texas, Ovidio Silvas, Florida and Pablo Silvas, Jr., Houston, Texas, four sisters Elida Sosa, Benavides, Texas, Francisca (Manuel) Resendez, Selly, Texas, Soila Baez, Hebbronville, Texas and Yolanda Muniz, San Antonio, Texas, one grandson Elijah Baca and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Monday, January 23, 2017 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home- San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Realitos, Texas.
Burial will follow at the Realitos Cemetery, Realitos, Texas. Military Graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association.
