With the Alice City Council election scheduled for this Saturday, candidates submitted their final campaign finance reports this week.

Leo Escobar showed the most activity of any candidate in both contributions and expenditures during the months of April and May. Escobar recorded $900 in contributions, with $300 coming from contributions of $50 or less. Escobar also received a $200 contribution from Eduardo Escobar, a $100 contribution from Juan A. Garcia and a $300 contribution from Adrian Perez Jr.

Escobar listed a total of $1,220.70 in expenditures, all for outdoor and newspaper advertising.

Juan Rodriguez Jr. listed $750 in contributions from two individuals. Those contributions included $250 from Joe Frank Garza and $500 from Berta Rodriguez.

Rodriguez also reported $947 in expenditures, all for radio and newspaper advertising.

Mauricio Garza II listed $100 in contributions from Giancarlo Nisimblat, and $821 in expenditures. All expenditures were for radio and newspaper advertising.

Shane Valverde filed a campaign finance report that listed no expenditures and no contributions during the reporting period.

Dorella Elizondo also filed a campaign finance report that listed no expenditures and no contributions during the reporting period.

Mayor Grace Saenz-Lopez, who is unopposed for re-election, also filed a campaign finance report, but had no contributions or expenditures during the reporting period.
