Public meeting is at 9 a.m. Friday

Jim Wells County Commissioners will consider appointing election judges and alternate judges for the upcoming county elections during Friday's meeting at 9 a.m. in the county courtroom.
Along with the judges, the court will also consider approving designated temporary branch offices for early voting.
Also on the agenda, the commissioners will consider approving the purchase of a patrol car by the JWC Sheriff's department through a cooperative purchasing agreement with the Houston Galveston Area Council.
The sheriff's department will also be seeking authorization to pay officers for working security during the JWC Fair to be held Oct. 22 to 28.
The court will consider the installation of electrical distribution poles and associated electrical power systems and equipment for the Alice International Airport from the Exxon Mobil Corporation.
In connection with that gift, the court will also consider authorizing County Judge L. Arnoldo Saenz to enter into an agreement with the City of Alice regarding responsibility for monthly electrical usage expense.
Finally, the commissioners will also consider nominations to the Jim Wells County Appraisal District Board of Directors.
