An Alice woman was arrested Tuesday morning after she was allegedly found to be in possession of stolen property.
According to Alice Police Department reports, officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Ida Street Tuesday shortly before 11 a.m. in reference to a burglary that had occurred.
The owner of the home reportedly told officers that an air conditioning unit had been stolen from a window in the home.
The homeowner was able to provide officers with the serial number and model of the unit.
Officers searched the neighborhood to the north of the victim's home, and noticed a new air conditioning unit in the window of a home in the 900 block of Farm Street.
The owner of that home, identified as Alma Luz Rodriguez, 34, gave officers permission to examine the unit. Officers were able to confirm the serial number on the unit matched that of the unit that had been reported as stolen and successfully used a remote control that had been left at the victim's home on the unit, according to reports.
Rodriguez reportedly told officers she had purchased the unit from an unknown individual for $75, but then later told officers she had stolen the air conditioner.
She was arrested and charged with burglary of a building.
