The Alice Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that reportedly occurred at a local convenience store early Friday morning.
According to Alice Police Department reports, shortly before 4:30 a.m. Friday a man wearing a mask similar to those in the "Scream" movies and carrying a weapon described by witnesses as a "shank," walked into the Speedy Stop located in the 300 block of North Johnson Street.
The man reportedly pointed the weapon at the clerk and demanded money from the register.
The clerk gave the suspect five dollars in one-dollar bills from the register, and the suspect left the store, traveling in the direction of Third Street.
In addition to the mask, the suspect was wearing a white or light tan shirt, tan cargo pants and white tennis shoes.
He is described as approximately five-feet tall, with a medium build and black or brown hair.
According to police department reports, following the robbery store clerks informed investigators that a man matching that description had approached clerks several times in the past two days and had asked questions regarding store hours and operations.
That subject was observed to have a tattoo on the upper chest and neck area that said "Hector" and another unidentified tattoo on the upper right arm. The subject also had a silver studded earring in his left ear lobe, according to reports.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the possible identity of the suspect to call the Alice Police Department at 664-0186 or Crime Stoppers at 664-STOP. All calls may remain anonymous.
