LA?BANDERA?— A fire destroyed a vacant mobile home Tuesday morning on the 7000 block of County Road 440 about 20 miles northwest of Premont, officials said.
“It was completely destroyed,” Alice Fire Chief Dean Van Nest said.
At 7:43 a.m. Tuesday morning, Alice Fire Department along with the Premont and Benavides volunteer fire departments were called out to the mobile home fire that was totally engulfed in flames.
The mobile home and an addition to the house on the 7000 block of County Road 440, about seven miles from Highway 281, was demolished by the fire, fire officials said.
Fire officials said the home was abandoned and no one was living in the house at the time. No injuries were reported and officials believe no utilities were hooked up to the home.
The fire departments took about three hours to extinguish the blaze, officials said.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, Van Nest said.
Despite the recent fire, Van Nest said the start of the year has been slower for the fire department.
“Compare to last year,” he said, “we are not as busy.”
