A Calallen Girl Scout has collected hundreds of items for foster children during a recent service project.

Esmeralda Lopez, 6, from Troop 9760 of Calallen collected 721 items for Project Undercover with the help of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and the Calallen school district.

The items where delivered to Child Protective Services recently.

Project Undercover is the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council's community service project conducted throughout the fall and culminating Oct 27.

The council established the project to help children under the care of the Texas Department of Family and Regulatory Services. The Girl Scouts provide new underclothes for foster children, sheets and toys for children removed from homes.

Esmeralda, the daughter of Enrique and Linda Lopez, is a first-grader at East Primary Elementary School.
