Goblins, witches and vampires are encouraged to head to the Halloween Block Party 2007 at the City of Alice parking lot on Wednesday.
"It's gotten bigger every year and the community's cooperation is wonderful," said Parks and Recreation Superintendent Debbie Harville.
The City of Alice and the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department are joining efforts for the Halloween Block Party 2007 on Halloween night.
The block party will have lots of candy, a coloring contest, games and a costume contest. The costume contest also includes a contest for adults. A haunted house filled with surprises is one of the highlights this year with a zig-zag tunnel. Local residents and those from surrounding areas are invited to join the fun. The block party is from 5 to 9 p.m.
A pumpkin-carving contest will also be part of the activities. Bring your carved pumpkin to the block party. Prizes will also be given for the school club or organization with the most student and/or faculty volunteers.
To volunteer and for more information contact the Alice Parks and Recreation Department at 668- 7260. Harville said the block party is a way to keep children safe.
"It's lots of good, safe fun," she said. "Kids are going to be out on the street unless we provide them with an alternative solution."
