Jim Wells County Commissioners will administer the oath of office to Bartolo Guajardo Friday morning as the new Constable for Precinct 6 during a special meeting of the commisisoners' court at 9 a.m.
Guajardo, a former constable for Pct. 6, will finish the term of Constable Alonzo Lozano, who passed away earlier this month after a long illness.
Guajardo will serve until the election next year, when Lozano's term was scheduled to end.
The court will also consider a resolution to apply for a Texas Community Development Block Grant under the Colonia Planning Fund for a study of County Roads 112-115.
On the agenda for Friday is a funding request by the Fiesta Amistad project and a consideration of incentive for the La Quinta project in JWC.
The commissioners will also consider authorizing the sheriff's department to purchase a transportation van. The court will also go into executive session to discuss the appointment of an airport manager for the Alice Municipal Airport, which is controlled jointly by the City of Alice and JWC.
They will then reconvene in open session to take any necessary action if a decision is made as to the selection of a new airport manager.
