The McAllen Police Department arrested murder suspect Jason Garces at the Hidalgo port of entry Tuesday night, officials said in a press release. Garces of Alice was wanted on an outstanding warrant for murder stemming from a June 11 incident at a home on the 1300 Block of W. Gardenia in Mc Allen.

During the altercation about 3:45 a.m on the night of June 11, Garces and another suspect, Jose Angel Montez, allegedly fatally wounded 25-year-old Rogelio “Roque” Salinas of San Diego.

Garces was immediately named the lead suspect with Montez the following day. According to the press release, Garces turned himself in at the port of entry in Hidalgo Tuesday evening and U.S. Custom agents contacted the McAllen Police Department who took custody of Garces.

The investigation is ongoing and police are still searching for Montez, who is described as a Hispanic man, brown hair, brown eyes, about 5-feet 8-inches in height, and 180 to 200 pounds. Montez is 25 years old and with a dark complexion.
