The 1st Jim Wells County 4-H Cook-Off benefitting 4-H Project Broadway was held June 15 and 16. The results for the B-B-Q Cook-off were:
1st place - Beefmasters, Denver and Regina Eichler 2nd place - Hub City Beefmasters, Joe A. Gonzales, Hector Perez, Frank Perez, Tony Avila, Roli Gonzalez, and JC Perez 3rd place - Rackem & Stackem - Adrian Benavidez, Max Lopez, Dustin Lopez, and Abraham Aguillar
1st place - Hub City Beefmasters 2nd place - Mesquite Cooks Gone Wild - Rojelio Cuellar, Rojelio Cuellar Jr., Wolf Garza 3rd place - Rancho Loma Linda - Mario Herrera, James Garcia, Gilbert Rodriguez, Jaime Martinez, and Frank Briones
1st place - LDG Cookers, Lupe Ramirez, Lupe Ramirez Jr., Davy Joe Ramirez, and Gloria Villapamdo 2nd place - Beefmasters 3rd place - Sundown, Scott Crisman, Mike Crisman, Tim Turner, and James Ferak
1st place - Rackem & Stackem 2nd place - Rancho Loma Linda 3rd place - Beefmasters
In the kids cook-off, participants were: Petey Belton, Sam Crisman, Paige Beltron, Katlyn Crisman, Adrian Michael Benavidez, Savana Velenzuela, and KC Guerra.
1st place in the kids cook-off 6 to 10 year old division was Paige Beltron. 1st place in the kids cook-off 11 to16 year old division Savana Velenzuela.
In the bake-off, 1st place cake went to Donny Guerra of the Lucky Shamrocks 4-H and 2nd place went to Taylor Brammer of the Orange Grove Country Kids 4-H Club.
