Band places fourth to advance; competition is Nov. 6 in San Antonio

The Alice High School Marching Band will be heading to state competition Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The band placed fourth at the UIL Area Marching Band Competition Saturday in Calallen.
There were 21 4A bands in the area competition, representing schools from as far north as Boerne and as far south as Roma.
In the preliminary competition, AHS placed eighth, which was enough to make it into the finals later that evening. The top 10 bands advanced to the finals.
During the finals, AHS placed fourth.
The top four bands in area advance to state competition.
At the Alamodome, the band will face off against 22 of the strongest 4A bands in the state of Texas.
This is the third time in a decade the marching band has advanced to state.
The other years were 1997 and 1999, under the direction of Robert Quick.
