A city-wide cleanup for Agua Dulce is set for Oct. 20 and organizers are seeking volunteers.

"Volunteers or organizations are invited," said Barbara Bebout, Project Real Time program director.

"If they can, bring their weed eaters and lawn mowers to help clean up vacant lots."

Volunteers should meet in the Agua Dulce band hall Oct. 20 by 9 a.m.

"We'll see how it goes and what kind of response we get," Bebout said. "If it goes well, we will start more community service projects with the kids."

The city-wide cleanup is a joint effort with Project Real Time and Friends for Progress organizations.

The cleanup on Oct. 20 begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 12 p.m.

Bebout said that the cleanup event is its first for the project organization.

The Project Real Time program is funded through the 21st Century five-year grant provided by the Community Living Center.

She said Agua Dulce residents are encouraged to leave their items on the curb.

"If they have small items to pick up, they can put it out on the curb," Bebout said.

Bebout said that the project provides after-school tutoring and enrichment activities for about 200 Agua Dulce students.
