First six weeks report cards were picked up by parents as they met briefly in classrooms with teachers during open house held at the Norman Thomas Elementary last Thursday.

"We're having a great time celebrating with our parents our Recognition status," principal Linda Garza said.

"We're working on kicking it up a notch to Exemplary."

Teachers of students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades were available to greet visitors from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

A number of door prizes were also given away during the open house.

"We had a good early turn out," said Garza.

"I'm glad parents are here, showing an interest in their children's school, in their education."

Garza thanks the following businesses for their generosity in helping to make the open house a success; Dairy Queen, Dollar General, Super S Grocery, A & A Gift Shop, Duval Lease, Muy Grande, The Drink Deport, Casas Drive and Grocery and Susie's Freer Farm and Ranch.
