People of different nationalities crammed into a load of lemons

FALFURRIAS, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents from the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint discovered 26 undocumented immigrants from inside a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the truck was arrested.

The rescue occurred on Sunday, when agents assigned to the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint observed a semi-tractor truck towing a utility trailer enter the primary lane for inspection.

A Border Patrol canine team alerted to the tractor-trailer and referred the driver to the secondary inspection area for further investigation.

Agents discovered a total of 26 people of different nationalities crammed inside the utility trailer behind a load of lemons.

The trailer was not equipped with any windows that would allow for the flow of air within the trailer. All subjects were taken into custody and processed for removal proceedings.

None of them were in need of medical attention. The driver, a permanent resident, was arrested.

Border Patrol seized the truck and the utility trailer. The driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending an investigation.
