City votes for new mayor and council member

The Premont City Council has changed leadership as the residents voted for a new mayor and council member on Saturday.
According to complete and unofficial results, Norma Tullos defeated incumbent Mario Rodriguez for the mayor position by eight percent of the votes.
Tullos had 530 votes, or 54 percent, to Rodriguez's 458 votes, or 46 percent, of the total 988 votes.
Tullos could not be reached for comment Saturday evening.
She previously served as mayor of Premont before being defeated by Rodriguez.
In one of the council seats, Crissy Tamez Cabrera overtook her opponent with 529 votes, or 54 percent of the vote, to F. Tino Perez's 445 votes, or 46 percent of the total 974 votes.
The other council seat was taken by unopposed candidate Dalia Gee with 490 votes.
