WASHINGTON - Texas's senior Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) announced Monday the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded $2,039,946 in grants to Texas law enforcement agencies to assist in their mission to protect public safety.

"It is so important that our police officers and courthouses have the resources they need to keep us safe," Sen. Hutchison said. "These grants will provide the equipment and infrastructure needed to help our law enforcement officials fight crime."

Jim Wells County will receive $21,475 for equipment upgrades.
