A manager-trainee at a local Dairy Queen went from serving Hunger Busters to being busted, after he allegedly skimmed money from several deposits at the restaurant.
Lt. Luis Barrera, of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Alice Police Department, said Jose Matias De La Rosa, 30, was arrested Friday following an investigation by the department.
Barrera said restaurant managers discovered during a recent audit that De La Rosa had changed several deposits, often taking as much as $100 a day from the Alice Dairy Queen.
Restaurant managers contacted the Alice Police Department, which conducted an investigation into the reported thefts.
A warrant was issued as a result of that investigation, Barrera said, and De La Rosa was arrested Friday and charged with theft over $500 under $1,500, a Class A Misdemeanor.
De La Rosa reportedly had worked at the restaurant for a little more than two months.
