Veterans Benefit Fair Oct. 27 in Corpus Christi

All area Veterans are encouraged to attend the free Veterans Benefit Fair at the Ortiz International Center in Corpus Christi from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 27.

The benefits fair is sponsored by the Texas Veterans Land Board and Texas Veterans Commission.

Featured will be information from

The Texas Veterans Land Board regarding the housing loan program, land loan program, home improvement loan program, state Veterans homes and state Veterans cemeteries. Texas Veterans Commission, will provide counselors to assist with disability and pension claims, employment services and educational benefits Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) representatives will assist participants with federal entitlements.

Coffeehouse offers place for youth to socialize

CrossBar Coffeehouse, located upstairs in the "old" building at First United Methodist Church on the corner of First and Reynolds in Alice, is open from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday; offering a positive and encouraging place for youth in grades eight through 12 to gather. Enter through the breezeway.

Series on the "Book of Revelation" continues

The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco ISD is attempting to identify eligible migrant children residing within the school district who may be eligible for additional after school tutorial.
