With the first game of the season about a week away, there are bleachers full of Coyote season ticket holders who are close to not having tickets for that game.
That's because the cutoff for Alice Coyote season ticket holders to purchase their seats is 4 p.m. Friday, and an estimated 40 percent of those tickets have yet to be purchased.
Those season tickets not purchased by their holders by 4 p.m. Friday go on sale to the general public on a first-come, first-serve basis at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
By not purchasing their tickets by the deadline, season ticket holders forfeit the rights to those seats forever.
Alice head coach and athletic director Brent Davis said many ticket holders are slow to come in this year because of the start of school, which is Monday, Aug. 27, this year. He said traditionally, many longtime season ticket holders use the start of school as a reminder to purchase their seats.
"Normally, people wait for the start of school to come in and buy their tickets," Davis said. "That's the way a lot of people have always done it, but with school starting so late this year, the cut off is Friday."
Season ticket holders can still buy their tickets through today and Friday. The Alice Coyote athletic department ticket office is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Friday.
The Coyotes' season opener is Friday, Aug. 31, in Memorial Stadium against Laredo Cigarroa.
