Three Freer men were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon last Tuesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred in a local residential area early April 22, police said.
Jason Perez, 23, Napoleon Soto, 23, and Eric Cabrera, 17, were each charged with the second-degree felony, which if convicted, could result in a prison sentence of no less than two or no more than 20 years, and could also receive a fine not to exceed $10,000, officials said.
According to police reports, the shooting occurred about 5:45 a.m. at the residence of Santos Trevino in the 900 block of South Duval Avenue.
Perez, Soto and Cabrera were taken to Duval County jail and were later released on surety bonds of $15,000 each, records show.
Investigating the case was Freer Police Officer Jim Andrzyczak assisted by Reserve Officer Julian Pena.
