A three-to-five-mile walk to benefit breast cancer awareness is being sponsored by the Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Independent School District Monday evening.

According to organizers, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month educates women about the importance of early detection against breast cancer.

The Badger Mini-Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will be held Monday with opening ceremonies to begin at 5:45 p.m. at the J.E. Barrera Stadium in Ben Bolt. Registration will start at 5:30 p.m.

The walk will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m., and will include music. Organizers encourage individuals to bring their friends and walking shoes. No strollers will be allowed. Donation is $1, which will go into a raffle.

The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Independent School District proclaimed October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the community and surrounding areas.

All women and their families within the area are invited to join the fight against breast cancer.

The Community Action Women's Center will be available to pass out brochures about the facts on mammography.

Drinking water will be provided by the National Honor Society and Student Council and pink ribbons and refreshments will be furnished by Ben Bolt's FCCLA with reading pamphlets compliments of American Cancer Society and Community Action Women's Center.
