Jim Wells County Commissioners will consider instating a burn ban in the county during a meeting on Monday at the courthouse. The meeting begins at 9 a.m.
Although the area experienced a large amount of rainfall during summer, the county is feeling the brunt of a lack of rain in recent weeks, followed by hot, dry conditions. This weekend’s cooler weather is forecasted to bring much needed rain to the community.
Last week, Nueces County initiated a 90-day burn ban throughout unincorporated sections of the county because of dry conditions this season. Kleberg County has also discussed a burn ban.
Commissioners will also consider approving a contract with Brooks County to inspect septic tanks.
