Drama students will hold a special performance of their One Act Play competition piece, Pinocchio Commedia, on Saturday, June 16, as a fundraiser for their trip this summer to Internationals in Lincoln, Neb.
The performance will start at 1 p.m. in the Alice High School Activity Center. Tickets will be $4, and can be purchased every morning this week in front of the AHS Little Theatre.
This one act will be different then previous performances this year, as it will be carried out by an all new cast and set up "in the round," which means audience participation will be encouraged.
"We'd like to encourage everyone to bring their kids, since this performance will really involve the audience. It'll be a lot of fun," Alice High School Theatre Instructor Darleen Totten said.
Pinocchio Commedia, is basically a play within a play as the story of Pinocchio is told through the eyes of a traveling troupe of actors during the Renaissance. This type of troupe was known at the time as a commedia dellarte.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the group's trip next month.
For the first time, the students will represent Alice High School by participating in a parade through the city of Lincoln, and perform their play in a grassy area in front of the Student Union Building at the University of Nebraska campus.
