A Crime Stoppers tip to the Alice Police Department reportedly led to the arrest Thursday morning of a 20-year-old Alice man who is charged with a number of burglaries of the Alice Boys and Girls Club.
Justin Lee Salinas, 20, has been charged with multiple counts of burglary of a building, in connection to several burglaries that have occurred at the Alice Boys and Girls Club over the past several months.
Alice Police Chief Danny Bueno estimated the total cost of damage to the Boys and Girls Club building and the loss of property was several thousand dollars.
In some cases, Bueno said, Salinas removed computers from the Boys and Girls Club and stripped them for parts.
Bueno said an important break in the case came when the burglar was caught on surveillance video during a Sept. 17 break-in.
That video was shown on television through the Crime Stoppers program Wednesday night, and two tips were received Thursday morning.
Bueno said the Crime Stoppers tips were an important step in confirming information investigator Michael Jaramillo had already obtained.
"Crime Stoppers is an essential part of our investigation," Bueno said. "This is excellent investigative work."
