4-H members competed in New Mexico, win big

South Texas was well represented by four youngsters at the National Junior Santa Gertrudis Show in Albuquerque, N.M.
Cody White took two animals to the show. He placed 10th with Miss Lizzie, his Santa Gertrudis entry, and first with his Star Five entry, Miss Abbie, with bull calf, Thumper at her side.
This placing won him a Belt Buckle. Cody was in the top 20 at the National Show in showmanship.
Cody is the son of Michael and Traci Lyn Buegeler.
Wyatt Bradshaw placed third in Junior Public Speaking, third in the Junior Cattleman's Contest and first in Junior Photography.
Wyatt had two heifers, Miss Abita, which won sixth place, and he took eighth with Miss Tequila in the Star Five Division.
He was also in the top 20 in the Nation in Junior Showmanship. Wyatt is the son of Lori Allen and Charlie Bradshaw.
Logan Streadl took three animals to the show. He placed fifth and eighth with his heifer Miss Hope, ninth with his cow Miss Paige and bull calf Chaps in the Santa Gertrudis Division.
He placed fourth with Miss Reagan in the Star Five Division, and placed fifth in Sr. Cattleman's Contest. Logan is also a Jr. National Director for the Santa Gertrudis Association.
He is a sophomore at Tarlton University and the son of Kim Streadl.
Jake Powell took three animals to the show. He placed third with Miss Princess, fourth with Miss Jerika, and fifth with Miss Tina and bull calf T.C. in the Santa Gertrudis Division.
He also placed first and Reserve Grand Champion with Miss Princess in the Bred and Owned Division.
This placing won him a belt buckle and a hand painted ceramic southwest pot. He placed sixth in Senior Showmanship. He graduated from Banquete High School this year and is the son of Mike and Glenda Powell.
These four individuals, accompanied by their parents and many other South Texas families, spent a week in New Mexico.
Cody is a member of the Lone Star 4-H club. Wyatt is a member of the Orange Grove Jr. FFA.
