Organizers for the Alice Housing Authority holiday meals are hoping to continue the tradition of serving Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner to their residents.

"Unfortunately, we cannot provide all this without a generous donation from you and the community," resident coordinator Marie Garcia stated in a letter soliciting donations.

"The most important celebration that we provide for our residents is the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners."

Garcia said monetary donations are also welcome.

The Thanksgiving and Christmas meals are for the families, elderly and disabled residents of the High Rise and the Third Street Arlington and Heritage Apartments in Alice.

The Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled for Nov. 16 and the Christmas dinner is set for Dec. 19.

Donations needed include the traditional food items such as turkeys, hams and gallon-sized canned goods of green beans and corn.
