Jim Wells County 4-H will have a barbecue cook-off, a kids' barbecue cookoff, and a bake-off to benefit the "Project Broadway" fund to send local 4-H students to New York City and Washington, D.C. in June. Cash prizes will be awarded to adult entrants for brisket, fajitas, pork spare ribs and chicken during the event which will take place Saturday, June 16, at the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds. The kids' pork loin chop barbecue cookoff will be $20 per entry, limited to the first 20 kids, entry deadline June 4, with prizes awarded to each participant. The bake-off is for youth groups, civic organizations, church groups and businesses, categories are cakes, pies and cookies, entry fee is $10, entry deadline June 4 with prizes in each category.
