Two trucks collided at the intersection of Highway 44 and Beam Station Road, and both drivers claimed to have the green traffic light, officer Jaime Trevino with the Alice Police Department said.

According to police, witnesses said a Holt company truck traveling eastbound on Highway 44 crossed a red traffic light as the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 truck was coming out of Beam Station Road, about to turn onto Highway 44 going westbound.

The Dodge truck was hauling used appliances in a trailer. The trucks collided about noon Thursday, police said.

Police said the driver of the Holt truck received a citation for failure to yield the right of way.

Maria Garza, who sells flowers on the side of the highway, said she heard a loud noise.

"I came from inside and heard the bang," she said. "It was very loud."

No injuries were reported, police said.
