The Alice City Council is scheduled to continue interviewing candidates for the open position of city manager tonight, with the possibility that a city manager could be appointed at that meeting.

The meeting, scheduled for 6:45 p.m. tonight, includes an agenda item for the council to meet in executive session to interview candidates for the open city manager position, with an action item in open session to appoint the city manager.

The five finalists chosen by the council for the position were Scott L. Albert, Ruben Maldonado, Oscar E. Ramirez, Florencio Sauceda and Albert Uresti.

Former city manager Pete Anaya resigned from the position effective Jan. 31, and Maldonado has held the position of interim-city manager since Feb. 1.

A joint meeting scheduled between the Jim Wells County Commissioner's Court and the Alice City Council for 6:30 p.m. tonight has been cancelled.

That meeting had been scheduled to discuss and possibly hire a new airport manager for the Alice Municipal Airport.

The meeting has not yet been rescheduled.
