San Diego - An accident between San Diego and Freer claimed the lives of a woman and teenager about 7 a.m. Monday, a Department of Public Safety official said.

DPS Cpl. Charlie Ramirez said the woman, driving a silver Crown Victoria was eastbound on Highway 44 about seven miles east of San Diego. 

Officials said for unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved into the westbound lane and struck a Ford truck pulling a flatbed trailer.

The 76-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy were killed on impact, officials said.

Both were from Freer.
