Police officials traveled to McKlendon County jail Wednesday to serve a warrant on a suspect who allegedly assisted in the robbery of Ralph's grocery store last year.
Police officials said that Romualdo "Mario" Soliz Jr. cooperated with police and he apparently confessed in helping with the robbery.
"We sat down with him and served him the warrant. We were fortunate that he agreed to talk to us," Lt. Luis Barrera with the Alice Police Department said.
"We spoke to him and he gave us a confession. He gave us details of the case that only he would of known."
Police investigators made the six-hour trip to Waco to serve Soliz the arrest warrant.
Soliz was already in the county jail on other charges of armed robbery in that area.
Soliz is a native of Benavides.
The other suspect, Eladio Diaz Jr., and Soliz face felony charges of aggravated armed robbery for the Ralph's robbery at 10:40 a.m. on July 21, 2006.
The two made off with almost $30,000, police said. Earlier this month, Diaz was served with a warrant at Nueces County jail where he is currently being held on other charges.
At the time of the armed robbery, police said the duo resided in Corpus Christi, where they reportedly committed other robberies.
Barrera said that the trip to Waco was a success.
"Now, it's up to the district attorney's office to prosecute the case," Barrera said.
