The Freer Civic Center will host a "My Medicare Matters" screening and enrollment into the Low Income Subsidy program (LIS) for Seniors 65 and over or a person younger than 65 who has a disability.

A person receiving Medicare part A and/or Medicare part B or both can be screened to see if they qualify for the low-income subsidy that can pay up to $93.50 per month on a person's monthly premium being deducted from their Social Security or disability check.

If a person qualifies it can also pay up to 85 to 100 percent of their co-pays for medications and doctors visits as well as toward their annual deductible.

The Latino Education Project is serving the 12-county area of Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Kennedy, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio.
