I am very proud to be the superintendent of the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District.
I have 3,313 reasons to be proud-our T-M students. It is truly a blessing and an honor to work in a district where parents, teachers, school board and community members give students the first priority. Our students are our reason to exist and the reason we strive to be the best school district we can be.
TMISD has a long tradition of excellence. Our goal as a school district is to experience continuous improvement in every aspect of the organization. We know continuous improvement is taking us on the road to reaching an exemplary level of performance. We also know that to reach our goals we need the participation and support of our entire community and that may be our biggest pride.
Tuloso-Midway is proud to have the support of our community. This support was manifested in the passing of the bond election in November of 2006. The first stage in our bond construction project is almost complete, even though it is not highly visible.
This stage consisted of the upgrade of the district's technological network to improve services for the entire district and in the installation of a modern fire alarm system and public announcement system at the high school to improve the safety of our students.
A prestigious architectural firm is working closely with teachers and administrators to design modern science laboratories and classrooms to be built at the high school and middle school for the next stage of the project. Preliminary soil lab work is also being done for the construction of new tennis courts at the middle and high schools. We expect construction on these projects to start sometime next spring. This ambitious project will help T-M to maintain and improve the high quality of its instructional facilities and provide world-class instruction in a world-class environment for our students.
Beautiful classrooms and first-class support systems are critical for the success of our students. But nothing replaces the value of love. The reason I am most proud to be superintendent of T-M is the caring attitude that every person in our community has for children. It is exciting to see the devotion our teachers have for students and their commitment to children. I wish everyone knew how caring our teachers and staff really are. I wish everyone knew the long hours they spend planning their lessons and preparing to receive students and make every minute of instruction count. Our dedicated staff makes T-M a really special place for children.
Without your support, the success of our students would not be possible. We need your involvement as parents, community members and citizens. If you want to get to know T-M better, come to our district-wide Fall Festival at the high school Nov. 3 from 2 to 8 p.m. Celebrate education with us in a family-oriented event filled with fun and games and consider joining the TMISD family. You will be filled with T-M pride too.
