The trial date for a former Robstown teacher accused of sexually abusing two former students has been reset to next year.

Court officials said a docket call would be held Jan. 17, with the trial scheduled to begin Jan. 22.

Jesse Hastey, 31, was indicted by a grand jury in May, about six months after police began investigating alleged sexual relationships between the former science teacher and track coach and his students.

He is charged with five counts of sexual assault of a child and seven counts of improper relationship between an educator and student.

Hastey was arrested in early November after school officials provided Robstown police information that he had allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse and/or improper contact with several former and current female students at Robstown High School.
