A two-month investigation by the Alice Police Department and the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department ended with the arrests of a husband and wife Thursday.

According to Alice Police Department reports, officers with the Alice Police Department, Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department and the Premont Police Department executed a search warrant on a home in the 900 block of Hickey Street in Alice shorty before midnight Thursday.

Once they made entry into the home, officers detected an overwhelming smell of marijuana, officials said. A search of the home revealed 35 grams of packaged cocaine, with a street value of nearly $2,000.

Officers also seized a small amount of marijuana and nearly $1,000 in cash.

Two residents in the home, identified as Hector Anguiano Jr., 31, and Belinda Anguiano, 29, were arrested.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and were transported to the Jim Wells County jail.

Both were released Thursday morning on $5,500 bond each.

Two children who were in the home at the time of the raid were turned over to the custody of relatives.

An Alice police officer was reportedly slightly injured by fragments from the front door of the home, which officers broke down while making entry into the home, but he has returned to active duty, Alice Police Chief Danny Bueno said.
