Two men were arrested in Freer on drug charges at a residence located in the 1000 block of Harvil Street during the early morning hours of Thursday, June 21, according to police reports.
Eric Lee Leal, 24, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and Tomas Tanguma Jr., 39, was charged with possession of marijuana after being arrested by agents of the Central South Texas Criminal Investigation Unit, records show.
After executing a narcotics search warrant, officers entered the livingroom area of the house, clouded with smoke, immediately observing four adults and two juveniles.
All were gathered around amounts of marijuana lying on top of a coffee table, reports say.
After a further search of the residence, agents also found 15 small baggies containing cocaine that were stored inside a large plastic bag.
Estimated street value of the drugs was $1,000, reports show. Lead investigator Ovidio Espinoza said the illegal substance weighing approximately 10 grams was packaged in a manner that was ready for distribution.
Also seized during the search was $1,150 in cash, which agents believed was proceeds gained by Leal from the sale and distribution of drugs, according to official reports. Tanguma was later released from jail on a $500 surety bond. Leal still remains in jail on a cash bond set at $10,000, reports show.
Also assisting were officials of the Freer Police Department and Duval County Sheriff's Departments.
