With only one local race still to be decided, participation in todayís run-off election is expected to be light.

According to information provided by the Jim Wells County Elections Administratorís Office, only 534 people participated in the week of early voting, from March 31 to April 4.

Of those individuals, 331 voted in Alice, seven voted in Premont and four voted in Orange Grove.

The elections administrator also received 192 mail-in ballots.

The only local race still undecided is for Constable Precinct 6, with incumbent Bartolo V. Guajardo facing challenger Jaime R. Garza.

Guajardo came out ahead in the March 4 Primary, with 795 votes, but only earned 39.55 percent of the total vote.

Garza was the second place vote-getter in the four-man race. He earned 469 votes, worth 23.33 percent of the total.

The only other race on the ballot is for Texas Railroad Commissioner, between Mark Thompson and Dale Henry.
